How do I make a donation in memory of a loved one? A donation in memory of a loved one is so special and much appreciated. Stop by the library's front desk with cash or check or, if it's more convienet, you may complete the process online.

Use this form to register online for a new, temporary library card. To be eligible to register online, you must be at least 13 years old and reside within the 8 county service area of the Mohawk Valley or Southern Adirondack Library Systems (these counties): Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren, Washington. An email address is required. If you have questions about online registration, please contact the closest member library.
Your temporary card number allows you immediate access to our digital collection. Dependent on your library, you may have access to other digital collections and be able to place hold requests for library materials. You will have 60 days to complete your registration at a member library and pick up your card in person before your account will be expired.

Do you accept book donations? Yes. We accept no more than 2 boxes at a time of clean and non-damaged books. We do not accept text books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, or Reader's Digest Condensed Books

Frequently Asked Questions

I think I have overdue charges or fines on my account. What do I do? Call or stop by the front desk and we can check for you. Remember, the Johnstown Public Library has not charged late fees/fines since April of 2019.

I got a bill in the mail. What do I do now? Since the Library no longer charges late fines, you will only get a bill for items not returned well after the due date (and therefore assumed to be lost). If you have the item, simply return it in the drop box or at the front desk (no fees will be charged and the item will be removed from your account). If the item is lost, please pay the bill as stated. If you have a specific question regarding a bill, please call or stop by the library.
